Sustainable Gastronomy Day

Sustainable gastronomy can play a role due to its interlinkages with the three dimensions of sustainable development, including the promotion of agricultural development, food security, nutrition, sustainable food production and the conservation of biodiversity.
On 23 November, the United Nations General Assembly adopted with consensus its resolution "Sustainable Gastronomy Day." Through the adoption of this resolution, co-authored by Peru and 37 member states, the international community designated 18 June as Sustainable Gastronomy Day.The decision acknowledges gastronomy as a cultural expression related to the natural and cultural diversity of the world. It also reaffirms that all cultures and civilizations are contributors and crucial enablers of sustainable development.
