Publicis Sapient UK
A UK food poverty crisis has led to a rise in food bank use putting strain on their already fragile donation system – they often receive a surplus of certain products and a perilous shortage of others. Using technology and data, we wanted to make donating food smarter and more efficient. We created the “sending machine” – a digital vending machine that doesn’t dispense food, but sends it straight to the food bank. Food bank stock data is collected and analyzed and the Machine updates in real-time, reconfiguring itself to offer the required products.
Passers-by are able to send the right food at the right time. Delivery is synchronized with food bank distribution schedules meaning fresh food can be donated as well as long-life products.
